Zulal Voskehat 2024
Vayots Dzor, Armenia ( 75 cL )
A luminous Armenian white, shaped by orchard fruit, wild flowers and a long, finely mineral finish.
Voskehat, one of Armenia’s leading indigenous white grapes, finds an expression here that is both aromatic and structured. The wine shows a pale golden hue, with aromas of ripe apple, pear, stone fruit and white flowers, complemented by subtle herbal notes. The palate combines generous texture with fresh, precise acidity before finishing with a persistent mineral character. The high-altitude vineyards of Vayots Dzor, shaped by volcanic and limestone soils, provide the wine with tension and definition.
Founded in 2017 by Aimee Keushguerian, Zulal — meaning “pure” in Armenian — was created with a clear purpose: to reveal the character of Armenia’s indigenous grape varieties without masking them behind international styles. The winery works particularly with vineyards in the Arpa Valley of Vayots Dzor, where high elevations, volcanic and limestone soils, and dramatic temperature variations create ideal conditions for wines marked by freshness, precision and distinctive character. Zulal also explores lesser-known Armenian varieties, contributing to the rediscovery of one of the world’s oldest wine cultures.
